The Snail

The symbol for the Slow Food Movement is the snail. This is because the movement is all about taking your time when it comes to eating as well as producing foods. The snail is the perfect symbol because it moves at a slow pace and never speeds up. Whether you are someone who is cooking dinner for your family and friends, or a farmer who is growing your crops, it is important to take your time. Today, families rarely spend time eating together at the dinner table, nor are the meals home cooked. Having home cooked meals and sitting down at the dinner table as a family is not only going to be healthier because of the ingredients used, but it also helps families to spend quality time together where they can communicate and learn. Local farmer's use this idea of slowing down as a way to produce crops that are healthy, tasty, and do not harm the environment. While other large factory farms add chemicals to their crops to grow faster, local farms let their crops grow slowly on their own time.
